Strasburg set to make next rehab start on Friday

Washington Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg will make his next rehab start on Friday for Single-A Potomac, the team announced on Tuesday.
The plan, according to Nationals manager Davey Johnson, is for Strasburg to throw three innings with a 50-pitch limit on Friday and he then started to map out his timetable for a return to the majors.

"Stras is going to be on a normal program," Johnson said. "He'll go three innings on Friday with a limit of 50 pitches." He'll probably go the next time out, five days later, he'll go four innings, probably 60 pitches or something like that. Then he'll go five innings and 80 pitches and probably be ready to go."
In his first rehab appearance, Strasburg threw an 1 2/3 innings, striking out four and allowing a solo home run.
The No. 1 pick of the 2009 MLB Draft, Strasburg is trying to return to the big leagues after undergoing Tommy John surgery in Spetember of last year.
Johnson said that the team would like to see Strasburg in the majors this year, around early September, to take the place of starter Jordan Zimmermann, who is on an innings limit of 160 innings this season.
